The number row
You learn to type the numbers blind: every finger reaches two rows up, in its own column.
How to find the key
- Reach two rows up from the home row.
- Keep every finger in its own column: the 4 and the 5 belong to your left index finger.
- Come back to the home row after every number.

- Reach up with your left ring finger to the 2.
- Reach up with your right pinky to the 0.
- Tap the 2 again.
- Reach up with your right index finger to the 6.
890
- Reach up with your right middle finger to the 8.
- Reach up with your right ring finger to the 9.
- Reach up with your right pinky to the 0.
Watch out
You tap the 5 or the 6 with the wrong hand.
The 5 is still your left index finger and the 6 is already your right. Look once at the keyboard in the app and remember where the border is.
Tips
- Each finger keeps its own column: what belongs to the e is also the 3.
- In the app the colours show which finger types which number.
Why it works
The number row is above the top row, so the step is twice as long. Every finger keeps its own column, so the 3 belongs to your left middle finger, like the e and the d. Come back after every number and the road stays the same length.
