Typing sentences

You learn to keep typing a whole sentence, with capital, spaces and full stop, without stopping between the words.

How to find the key

  1. Read the whole sentence once.
  2. Keep typing without stopping at every space.
  3. Make the capital letter with Shift of your other hand.
  4. Type the full stop at the end too.

A worked example

The cat sat on the mat.

  1. Read the whole sentence once.
  2. Hold Shift with your right pinky and tap the T with your left index finger.
  3. Release Shift and type the words, with your thumb on the space bar.
  4. End with the full stop of your right ring finger.
More examples

Where is my coat?

  1. Read the sentence.
  2. Make the W with the Shift of your right pinky.
  3. Type the rest up to coat.
  4. Hold Shift with your left pinky and tap the question mark.

I am happy.

  1. Hold Shift with your left pinky and tap the I with your right middle finger.
  2. Type the rest of the sentence through.
  3. Let your thumb fall on the space bar every time.
  4. End with the full stop.

Watch out

  • You forget the full stop at the end, because the sentence is already finished in your head.

The full stop belongs to the sentence. Look once at the end of the line after your last word.

Tips

  • Read ahead while you type: your eyes are one word ahead of your fingers.
  • Either thumb can press the space bar: choose the one you like.

Why it works

A sentence is a row of words with a space between them. If you stop at every space, you type single words. Read the sentence first and the space becomes part of the movement.
