The seven continents
You learn to find all seven continents by starting with Africa and going round the map.
How to find it again
- Find Africa, the big continent in the middle.
- Look north to Europe, then east to Asia.
- Look west across the ocean to North and South America.
- Find Oceania south-east of Asia, and Antarctica at the very bottom.
A worked example
Tap South America.
- Find Africa first.
- Look west of Africa.
- That is South America.
More examples
Tap Asia.
- Find Africa first.
- Look north-east of Africa.
- That is Asia.
Tap Antarctica.
- Look at the very bottom of the map.
- The long strip of land there is Antarctica.
- It is the only continent without a country.
Tap Europe.
- Find Africa first.
- Look north of Africa.
- That is Europe.
Watch out
You tap Asia when Europe is asked.
Europe is the small continent north of Africa. Asia is the huge one, east of Europe.
You mix up North America and South America.
North America is the one nearer the top of the map. South America is the one below it.
Tips
- Russia stretches across Europe and Asia. On this map it is drawn with Asia.
- The Americas are two continents: North America and South America.
Why it works
The seven continents are the biggest pieces of land on Earth. Africa is easy to spot in the middle of the map. If you start there, you always know where you are, and every other continent is one step away.
