The capital cities of Europe

You learn the capital cities of Europe by finding the country first.

How to find it again

  1. Think: which country is this the capital of? Find that country, starting from the UK.
  2. Tap the dot inside it.

A worked example

Tap Berlin.

  1. Find Germany first.
  2. Germany is east of the Netherlands.
  3. Tap the dot in Germany.
More examples

Tap Vienna.

  1. Find Austria first.
  2. Austria is south-east of Germany.
  3. Tap the dot in Austria.

Tap Madrid.

  1. Find Spain first.
  2. Spain is south-west of France.
  3. Tap the dot in Spain.

Watch out

  • You type the name of the country when the capital is asked.

Read the question again. It asks for the city that is lit up, not for the country around it.

Tips

  • Kyiv is also written Kiev.
  • London is the capital of the United Kingdom, and Dublin is the capital of Ireland.

Why it works

A capital is always inside its own country. If you know the country, you look there, and the capital is the dot inside it. A country and its capital are one fact, like France and Paris.
